Beautiful Scout camp on the Chesapeake. The staff are excellent. And there are many water-based activities that Scouts don't have the opportunity to do at most camps.
My husband and two sons are at Rodney Scout Reservation this week (Week 5). My husband reports many problems, including incomplete food service (e.g., inadequate portions, cold food that should be hot and missing items), a shortage of needed tents and incomplete information about required prerequisites for merit badges. The boys have complained to him that the Trading Post is running out of supplies and refreshments. Cashiers do not have sufficient change to handle cash transactions; the Scouts are therefore told by cashiers to buy unwanted items, so that change will not be needed. Staff members have been pleasant about feedback, but the Scoutmaster has been told that some problems cannot be corrected before the end of the week due to inadequate resources. No action has been taken so far on other complaints. The camp is beautiful, but this has been a disappointing experience.
Great facility. Wonderful staff, but a BIG WARNING if you don't do well with spiders . . . then, it's not a good place. At least, not when our son went there last year.
Well kept, established BSA campground with a lot of great history.
Spent a lot of time here from 1975 to 2010! Winter camping and summer camps,both are memorable! Served on camp staff, OA weekends, Camporees and Beaver days! It's a big place with lots of different types of environments from swamp to we'll say mts. The water front and pool areas are number one! Lots to do!
Not poisonous or dangerous, but an ever-ending supply of big, harmless spiders crawling inside tents, under the eaves . . . everywhere(!) as they feed on the mosquitoes and other bugs that thrive in this beautiful location.
